Nidus
A personal cloud drive and media library for your Mac, with streaming to your own phone and TV.
Nidus keeps your Google Drive files in Finder and turns the movies and shows on your drives into a calm, Netflix-style library. It runs on your own devices. There is no Nidus account and no Nidus server.
What it does
- Connects up to two of your own Google Drive accounts: a Data Drive for documents and an encrypted private vault, and a Media Drive for movies and shows.
- Shows your library with rails such as Continue Watching, and a local "Tonight?" picker that suggests what to watch, scored on your Mac.
- Streams your library to devices you pair with it, over your own network or Tailscale.
- Optionally fetches posters and descriptions from TMDB.
Why it asks for Google Drive access
Nidus lists, reads, downloads and uploads files in the Drive account you connect, so that they appear in Finder and can be streamed. It also keeps encrypted vault data in the app-specific Drive folder, and reads your email address and name to label the account. Details are in the privacy policy.
