Privacy policy
Last updated: 8 November 2026
Nidus runs on your own devices. It has no servers, no user accounts and no analytics. The person who builds Nidus does not receive your files, your Google data, your viewing history or your tokens.
What Nidus accesses
- Google Drive files and folders (scope
drive) in the accounts you connect: to list them, show them in Finder, download them when you open or stream them, and upload changes you make. - The app data folder (scope
drive.appdata): to store your private vault as encrypted blobs. The vault is encrypted on your Mac with a key kept in your macOS Keychain before anything is uploaded. - Your email address and name (scopes
userinfo.emailanduserinfo.profile): to label the connected account.
Where your data is stored
- Sign-in tokens are kept on your Mac, in the macOS Keychain and an owner-only local file.
- Library metadata, watch progress and picker feedback are kept in a local database on your Mac.
- Your files stay in your Google Drive and in a local disk image on your Mac. Nothing is copied to any other service.
Who receives data
- Google, through the Google Drive and sign-in APIs, as you would expect.
- TMDB (themoviedb.org), only if you leave posters and descriptions switched on: the cleaned title and, when known, the year of a movie or show. No file names, paths, account data or device identifiers are sent. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- Your own paired devices (phone, TV, browser) receive the media you stream to them, over your network or Tailscale, using a per-device token you can revoke at any time.
Nobody else receives your data. Nidus does not sell data, show ads, or use Google user data to train AI or machine-learning models.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Nidus's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
- Disconnect an account in Nidus: its tokens are removed from your Mac and its drive is ejected. Files in Google Drive are not deleted.
- Revoke Nidus's access any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Delete local data by removing the Nidus folder in
~/Library/Application Supportand the Nidus items in Keychain Access. - Turn off TMDB lookups and clear the cached TMDB data in Settings.
Children
Nidus is not directed at children.
